Lieutenant John Edwin Binks (Service No:W85415) served in the ACMF with 14th Battalion Karri (WA) VDC from 29 April 1942 to 15 October 1945.

Born in 1904 in Echuca Victoria, Jack was the eldest of five children of James Henry Binks (b1845 in Campbelltown, Tasmania) and his second wife Rosina Hossack (b1880 in Ballarat, Victoria). James (a Labourer) and Rosina married in 1902 at Murray Flats in Echuca, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and James was a Labourer.

Jack worked as a Mill Hand in Jardee WA and, in 1929 in Blackwood WA, married Doreen Riverina Lawrence (b1909 in Greenbushes, WA). Jack and Doreen settled in Jardee where Jack was a Mill Hand and Sawyer (No 1 Bench Hand) before becoming Mill Boss/Foreman at Bunning's Nyamup Mill. Jack was involved in his local community - he was a member of the Manjimup Rifle Club (winning the Caris Bros Cup) and President of the Nyamup Social Club. Jack and Doreen retired to Perth, where Jack died in 1971 and Doreen in 1984.
