Private Harry Edward Francis (Service No:W82383) enlisted in the ACMF on 27 May 1942 - he had previously served with the Militia in 1926. Private Francis was attached to Swanbourne Volunteer Defence Corps 3 Battalion when he Discharged on 17 July 1943.
Born in Glasgow Scotland in 1902, Harry (Ted) was the third of nine children of Henry (Harry) Edward Tulloh Francis (b1871 in Melbourne, Victoria) and first wife Jane (Jean) Irene Crawford (b1878 in Glasgow, Scotland). Henry (an Engine Fitter) and Jean married in Scotland in 1897 and in 1912 Henry moved his family to his home country Australia - arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Belgic with his wife and seven children. The family settled in Midland Junction WA where Henry was an Engineer/Engine Fitter.
Ted worked as a Blacksmith's Improver in Midland Junction WA, where in 1924 he married Edith Blanche Gribble (b1903 in Midland Junction, WA). Ted and Edith settled in Midland Junction, where Ted worked as a Blacksmith's Improver, Blacksmith/Farrier and Fitter until retirement. Ted and Edith moved to Bunbury WA where Ted died in 1978 and Edith in 1979.
