Private William Thomas Howley (Service No:W68860) enlisted in the ACMF on 22 March 1942. He served with 3rd (WA) Battalion VDC and was Discharged on 28 March 1944.

Born in Devon, England in 1896, Tom was the fourth of eleven children of Charles Howley (b1861 in Gloucestershire, England) and Annie Helena Warren (b1869 in Devon, England). Charles ( a Bricklayer) and Annie married in Brisbane QLD in 1889 and returned to England where Charles was a Farmer when he and Annie immigrated in 1913, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Osterley. The family settled at Allanson nr Collie in WA where Charles was a Farmer.

Tom commenced working for WAGR in 1916 as a Cleaner and in 1918 married Ella Carlton Miller (b1900 in Norwood, South Australia). Tom and Ella lived in Bunbury, Busselton, Collie and Perth where Tom worked for WAGR as a Cleaner and a Fireman. Ella died in 1975 and Tom in 1982.
