This man was in charge of a Lewis Gun, and successfully engaged the enemy, who had taken up a position in a building, causing them to withdraw. He used up all available ammunition in magazines, and having collected more ammunition from casualties took up a position in a shell hole, constantly harassing the enemy during the day. All other members of this man's team became casualties early in the attack, and his conduct in working his gun single-handed deserves the greatest praise." | |
