Alf was the fourth of twelve children of Alfred Hislop (b1871 in Quindalup WA) and Alice Mary Harwood (b1875 in Quindalup WA). Alfred - a Railways Employee - and Alice married in 1896 in Quindalup WA. The family lived in Quindalup, Bunbury, Fremantle,Brunswick Junction and Perth.
In 1925 Alf married Norah Ellen Mangnall (b1907 in Fremantle WA) in Fremantle and they settled in Perth WA where Alf worked as a Horse Driver and Bread Carter. He served with the 44th Battalion Militia Band (Private; Service No:280869) for twelve years from December 1929.
In July 1942 Alf enlisted with the ACMF (Private; Service No:W92654) and was attached to General Reinforcements when he was Discharged in 1943. Six of Alf's brothers served in WWI/WWII.
Alf died in 1948 and Norah in 1965.
