4 Oct 1917: | Honoured Military Medal, Third Ypres, DEED FOR WHICH MILITARY MEDAL WAS AWARDED TO NO. 8994, PTE J.M.S WASSON, M.M. 5th Fld. amb. On the morning of the 4/10/1917 about 7 am a heavy barrage fire was laid down in fron of WESTHOEK RIDGE causing losses in killed and wounded. Without waiting for the fire to lift, Wasson volunteered and went forward attendng in the open to the urgent cases and in one definite case saving life by the arrest of haemorrhage from a shattered leg. His self-sacrifice and devotion were a fim stimulus to the other men at the station. His conduct throughout has been marked by the utmost intrepidity. (NAA.B2455) |

6 Sep 1919. A Welcome Home to 'Wynendale', Railway St, Baulkham Hills (where his parents had moved while he was away,) was held at the School of Arts which was attended by members of the family of The Right Honourable Sir Joseph Cook, the Prime Minister at the time. (Sister Cook, Maj Sydney Cook & Lt. Cook)
