Aircraftman I John Albert Love (Service No:23451) enlisted in the RAAF on 29 August 1940 and was attached to HQ Rathmines, mustered as a Canteen Steward. By 1 Decmeber 1944 he was a Sergeant and was attached to Eastern Area HQ when he was Discharged on 11 October 1946. Siblings Henry (LAC; Service No:134987) and William (Signalman; Service Nos:QX45215/Q1721) also served in WWII.

Born in 1912 in Wynnum QLD, John was the fourth of six children of Henry Charles Love (b1878 in Brisbane, QLD) and Jane Goostrey (b1880 in Brisbane, QLD). Henry (a Labourer) and Jane married in 1901 in Brisbane, QLD and lived in Acacia Ridge and Ipswich where Henry was a Labourer before settling in Wynnum where Henry worked as a Carpenter.

John started work as a Shop Assistant in Wynnum, QLD and in 1942 in Brisbane he married Alice May Poyser (b1917 in Brisbane, QLD) - Alice was working as a Boot Machinist. Following his Discharge, John and Alice settled in Manly, Brisbane QLD where John was a Grocer. John died in 1985 and Alice in 2003.
