Leading Aircraftman Frederick William Lott (Service No:118963) initially served in the Militia (Corporal; Service No:327280) with 58th and 59th Battalions from 1936 to 1942 before enlisting in the RAAF on 29 September 1942 at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman I- mustered as Trainee Technician and remustered as Flight Mechanic and then Fitter. LAC Lott Discharged on 18 December 1945, re-enlistng on 3 February 1949 and Discharging (for family reasons) on 26 September 1949.
Fred was born in Rutherglen, Victoria in 1913, youngest (surviving) son of Francis (Frank) Charles Lott (b1877 at Branxholme, Victoria) and Jessie Roberta Cabel Scott (b1888 in Alberton, Victoria). Frank lived in Leongatha, Alberton, Yarram and Mooroopna where he was a Railways Employee and Electoral Officer, and he and Jessie married in 1908 in Branxholme. They settled in Rutherglen, where they raised their family and Frank was a Railways Worker and involved in the community - played football and cricket for Rutherglen and was a member of the Minstrel Troupe and original Mugs Concert Party, taking part in many concerts. In the 1930s Frank was local Manager for John Burrows Pty Ltd (grain merchants).
Fred worked Rutherglen as a Labourer before moving to Melbourne, where he worked for two years as a Bus Driver and Conductor with the Tramways Board. He was a Mechanic (Spring Fitter with Henderson Pty Ltd) in 1942 when he enlsited in the RAAF. In 1936 in Melbourne, Fred married his first wife Mavis Mullarvey (b1920 in Cobram, Victoria) - they had five children when they Divorced in 1943. In 1944 in Corowa NSW, Fred remarried to Eileen Walsh (b1926 in Corowa, NSW) and following his Discharge from the RAAF, Fred and Eileen settled in Helensburgh, NSW where Fred worked as a Mechanic. Ellen died in 1966 and Fred later worked as a Labourer in Melbourne, where he died in 1980.
