Served a year apprenticeship with W. Hopwood of Glenelg, SA.

Brother of Arthur Renton Vertue who returned to Australia on 21 September 1919 having served with the 50th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 10 July 1919 aboard HT Oxfordshire disembarking on 10 August 1919

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
