Sergeant David Charles Spark (Service No:13088) enlisted in the RAAF on 19 February 1941 at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman 1 - mustered as Clerk Stores. On 1 February 1942 ACI Spark was promoted to Corporal and served at Station HQ Point Cook, 3 Embarkation Depot, and in New Guinea (24 May 1943 - 10 September 1944) with Nos 17 and 18 Stores Units. Sergeant Spark was attached to Air Force HQ at Discharge on 21 November 1945.

Born in Ballarat, Victoria in 1913, David was eleventh of fourteen children of Archibald (Arch) Leslie Spark (b1874 at New Chum via Bendigo, Victoria) and Jessica (Jessie) Violet Ah Tann (b1877 at Sago Hill via Ballarat, Victoria). Arch was a Miner in 1894 when he and Jessie married at Strathfieldsaye, Bendigo. They settled in Ballarat, where they raised their family and Arch worked as a Miner and Carter.

David worked in Melbourne for his older brother Ernest in EW Spark Coy Ltd - Knitting Manufacturers, where he was a Factory Foreman, Despatch Clerk, Bookkeeper and Clerk Stores. In 1932 in Melbourne, David married Dinah Catherine Richardson (b1912 in Aberfeldy, Victoria). David and Dinah settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and David worked for, and had a financial interest in, EW Spark Pty Ltd. Dinah died in 1949, and in 1952 in Melbourne, David remarried to Marjorie Elizabeth Pepper (b1917 in Sydney, NSW) - Marjorie was working in Wollongong, NSW as a Shop Assistant. David and Marjorie settled in Melbourne where David was Managing/Company Director until his death in 1964. Marjorie died in 2009.
