Warrant Officer John Tordiff Holliday (Service No:16164) enlisted in the RAAF on 15 April 1940 as an Aircraftman 1 attached to No 1 School of Technical Training (STT). Mustered as Service Police, he was promoted through the ranks to Warrant Officer by 1 December 1943 and was attached to Service Police Unit (SPU) at Discharge on 11 January 1946.
Born in 1910 in Cumberland England, John was the eldest of five children of John Tordiff Holliday Snr (b1886 in Cumberland, England) and Mary Toppin Dodd (b1886 in Cumberland, England). John Snr (a Farmer) and Mary married in 1908 in Cumberland where they settled and raised their family and John Snr was a Farmer.
John worked as a Farm Labourer and Blacksmith in Scotland before immigrating in 1929, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Barradine. John was a Senior Salesman and Milk Carter in Perth WA in 1935 when he married Iris Ethel May Hughes (b1910 in Essex, England) - Iris was working in Perth as a Dressmaker, and had immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1927, arriving in Fremantle, WA on board the Orama. Following his Discharge from the RAAF, John and Iris settled in Perth where they raised their family and John worked as Senior Salesman and Milk Carter, and Manager. John died in 1979 and Iris in 1998.
