Biography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon

Birth registration not found for Erith[as per CWGC], but at attestation, Frederick gave his birthplace as West Ham Woolwich. Woolwich is on the south side of the River Thames, almost opposite West Ham. Census records and the Roll of Honour Circular indicate he was born in North Woolwich, Kent, England.

He was 20 and the son of Edward George and Amelia Jane Dixon, of Campbell Rd., Albany, Western Australia. They appear to have previously lived at 58 North Place, Northumberland Heath. [Northumberland Heath is a neighbourhood and electoral ward in the London Borough of Bexley, south east London, England. Northumberland Heath is often referred to locally as "North' Heath" and is often considered to be part of upper Erith.]
