Errol was the eldest of three children of Albert James Wallace (b1897 in Devenish, Victoria) and Evelyn Sarah Wall (b1897 in Violet Town, Victoria). Albert (a Labourer) and Evelyn married in 1923 and settled in Violet Town, Gowangardie, Victoria. Albert served in WWI (Private, Shoeing Smith: Service No:3657) and WWII (Private; Service No:V91565). Albert and Evelyn were living in Shepparton, Victoria by the late 1920s, where they were Poultry Farmers.

Errol was working for the Taxation Office in Melbourne, Victoria as a Clerk when he enlisted in the RAAF in September 1942. He served initially as Air Crew V (Guard) before progressing to Pilot Officer with No 355 Squadron (Service No:419626). Errol was a Warrant Officer attached to BHOPAL when he was Discharged in December 1945.

By 1954 Errol was married to Heather Melva Debney (b1924 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Heather worked as a Tracer. Errol and Heather lived in Canberra, ACT where Errol was a Clerk before settling in Shepparton, Victoria. Errol worked as an Accountant in Shepparton, Victoria where he died in 2008.
