Son of Simon John Uren and Elizabeth Uren of Northumberland Terrace, Westhoe, Plymouth, England.
15 February 1916 - enlisted at Blackboy Hill, WA, with the 118 Howitzer Battery and with the rank of Private
31 August 1916 - promoted to Shoeing Smith
17 January 1917 - transferred to the 3rd Divisional Artillery Details
19 January 1917 - transferred to the 3rd Divisional Ammunition Column
10 February 1917 - transferred to the 3rd Divisional Artillery Details
5 June 1917 - transferred to the 12th Field Artillery Brigade
21 June 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Konigin Luise disembarking on 2 August 1919

17 September 1919 - discharged at the 5th Military District
