Corporal Maurice Trigg Tyrer (Service No:29473) enlisted in the RAAF as an Aircraftman I on 16 December 1940, Mustering as a Flight Rigger and later Electrical Mechanic. He was attached to 25 Squadron on 1 January 1945 when he was promoted to Leading Aircraftman and on 1 December 1944 was attached to HQ Pearce when he was promoted to Lance Corporal and then Corporal on 3 December 1945. Corporal Tyrer served in Pearce, Adelaide, Cunderdin, Ultima and in the Northenr Territory (6 March 1943 to 2 October 1944 at Adelaide River and 58 Mile). Corporal Tyrer was Discharged on 3 December 1945.
Born in 1911 in Bunbury WA, Trigg was the youngest of four children of William Naylor Tyrer (b1873 in Bairnsdale, Victoria) and Laura Trigg (b1868 in Perth, WA). William (a Bank Clerk) and Laura married in 1903 in Claremont, Fremantle WA and lived in Bunbury, Moora and Toodyay where William was Manager of the National Bank. Both William and Laura died unexpectedly - William in 1918 and Laura in 1919 - leaving four orphans between the ages of 14 years and eight years of age.
Trigg worked in Armadale WA as a Hotel Yardman and in 1934 in Perth WA he married Gladys Mary Nyberg (b1913 in London, England). Trigg and Gladys settled in Kalgoorlie WA where Trigg was a Miner. When he enlisted in the RAAF in 1940, Trigg stated he had worked as a Clerk, Truck Driver and Machine Miner. Following his Discharge, Trigg returned to Kalgoorlie where he worked as a Miner before being allocated farming land at Rocky Gully in Albany WA. Trigg and Gladys settled at Rocky Gully where Trigg was a Farmer before retiring to Perth in the 1970s. Trigg died in 1996 and Gladys in 1997.
