Robert Goldthorpe RAWS was born in Manchester, England on 26th May, 1886

His parents were the Reverend John Garrard RAWS and Mary Jane LENNON

The family arrived in South Australia in 1895

His brother John Alexander RAWS (Lieutenant) was also Killed in Action at Pozieres on 22nd August, 1916
