Leading Aircraftman Allan Robert Cumming Jnr (Service No:147788) enlisted in the RAAF on 9 March 1944 and was attached to HQ Northern Area when he was Discharged on 27 May 1946. His father (Alan/John Robert Cumming (Service No:1336) and six Uncles served in WWI.

Born in 1926 in Denilquin NSW, Allan Jnr was the eldest of two children of Alan Robert Cumming Snr (b1896 in Ascot Vale, Victoria) and Mabel (May) Jane Augusta Bertram (b1898 in Kurting, Victoria). Allan Snr (a Farmer at Inglewood, Victoria) and May married in 1925 in Bendigo, Victoria and by 1928 had moved to Denilquin, NSW where Alan Snr was a Farmer. By 1936 Alan and May returned to Inglewood, Victoria where Alan had a succesful mixed farming and grazing property and was in partnership with his two sons. Alan was a light harness racing enthusiast and owned several trotting mares and horses. He and May owned a cafe and bakery business in Inglewood.

Following his service in WWII, Allan was a Farmer in Inglewood, Victoria and in 1947 married Joyce Ann Hampton. The couple Divorced and both remarried - Allan to Barbara Nixon in 1948. Allan and Barbara then started a bus line and Allan was an active member of numerous community organisations, including Inglewood Hospital, Bendigo Legacy, Fire Brigade, Football Club, Town Council and Golf Club. In 1979 Allan was appointed Assistant Superintendent of RSL Park Frankston - War Veterans' Home - and was appointed Superintendent in 1984. Allan died in 1985.
