Obituary.
Corporal Cecil E Lake, late of the A.I.F., died in the Narrandera Hospital on Tuesday after undergoing an operation which had been rendered necessary as the result of gas poisoning received at the front. The deceased, who was in his 27th year at the time of his death, served for 3½ years at war, proving himself a good soldier and was also very popular among his comrades. He was a native of Mittagong and a son of Mr W J Lake, who was at one time Town Clerk at Mittagong, and a grandson of Capt. Napier, of that town. The body was brought to Mittagong, and the interment took place in the Church of England cemetery at Fitzroy yesterday afternoon, there being a large attendance of the relatives and friends of the late soldier. The service was conducted by the Rev E Heffernan, and the funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Roberts and Lippiatt.
