Eldest of three brothers who served in WWII, Leading Aircraftman David John Evans (Service No:75153) initially served in the Militia in 1929 (Private; 47th Battalion), and enlisted in the RAAF on 14 April 1942 at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Painter. LAC Evans was attached to HQ Sandgate at Discharge on 13 September 1944 (Medically Unfit for further service).
David was born in Bundaberg, QLD in 1909, eldest of three children (sons) of David John Evans Snr (b1882 in Bundaberg, QLD) and Katherine (Katie) Nicol Kerr (b1886 in Bundaberg, QLD). David Snr was working as a Labourer in Mt Perry when he and Katie married in 1907 in Bundaberg, where they settled and raised their family. David Snr worked as a Miner (Limestone) at Marmor Mine via Bundaberg until his death in 1915.
David served a five year Apprenticeship with Macklin Bros Bundaberg, and was a Painter in Bundaberg in 1936 when he married Esther Elizabeth Ellen Mountney (b1911 at Mt Perry, QLD). David and Esther settled in Bundaberg, where they raised their family and David worked as a Painter. David died in 1983 and Esther in 2012.
