His Experiences

Warrant Officer Richard Hudson Savage (Service number 60284) of the 9th Mobile Works Squadron, worked as a radar mechanic constructing and maintaining Pacific airfields to support the allied offensive against the Japanese in New Guinea and Bourneo. He was stationed at Fenton airfield in the Northern Territory when the Japanese Bombed Darwin. A small group of Japanese Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" bombers made it to the airfield he was stationed at a few times during the bombing of the NT in 1943. These bombings caused about 2-3 deaths in his sqaudron while being pinned down in the airfield.
