Gloria was the third of five children of Charles Thomas Gilbert (b1888 in Brisbane, QLD) and Edith Honor Draper (b1995 in Brisbane, QLD). Charles - a Labourer - and Edith married in 1920 in Brisbane, QLD where they settled and raised their family. Charles served as a Private/Driver (Service No:1170) in WWI.
Gloria enlisted in the RAAF in March 1944 and was an Aircraftwoman (Service No:102131) attached to RAAF Com HQs when she was Discharged in May 1946. In 1948 Gloria married her next-door neighbour Daniel (Danny) William Hunter - Danny served in WWII (Gunner; Service Nos:QX55700/Q152193). Brother-in-Law Ronald Leopold Petfield (Able Seaman; Service No:B2810) also served in WWII.
Gloria and Danny settled in Brisbane and raised their family - Danny worked as a Pastry Cook and in 2009 was awarded an OAM. Gloria died in 2010 and Danny in 2012.
