George was born in Inverell in 1914 to Naturalised Australian Greek parents who had migrated from Kythera, Greece, an island located at the south-eastern of the Peloponnese Peninsula.
He attended the Moree Superior Primary School, then later Sydney Grammar and was successful in winning a scholarship to the Sydney Univeristy in operative and prosthetic dentistry. He then travelled overseas to undertake a post graduate course in dental surgery at the Toronto University.
In 1941, Newspapers reports that he had passed his exams and had joined the RAAF, for which he was called up and leaving for Moree in the coming weeks.
On his Attestation papers he states that he had an existing successful Dental Practice for over two years. Also that he was an Honorary Dental Surgeon at both the Moree and Collarenebri District Hospitals.
Georges parents inform the North West Champion Newspaper that he had been promoted to the rank of Squadron Leader.
During his time in the Military George served in RAAF hopitals located in Sydney, Mildura and Milne Bay in New Guineaa.
After being discharge being discharge from duties in December 1945, Dr George Vasilios Gengos practised in Moree and then in Macquarie Street Sydney.
Dr G V Gengos was very active in Morree regularly donating prizes to various groups as well as being involved in numerous activities including Bowling Club, Cricket Association, Rifle club and Apex and Rotaty Clubs.
In his later years he moved to North Ryde, Sydney until his passing in 2003.
