Mr and Mrs J. T. Down, of Rosyanna, have received information that their son, Flight-Sgt J. W. B. Down, is now safe in England. Flight-Sgt Down, who was the navigator of a I Lancaster bomber, had been missing since June 24 when engaged on an opera-tional flight over enemy occupied territory in Europe. Before joining the RAAF he was on the staff of the C o m m ô n wealth Bank. He left Australia for Canada in December, 1942, to complete his training under the Empire Training Scheme, and anived in England in July, 1943. Flight-Sgt Down is 22 years of age. He was educated at Ivanhoe Grammar School.
