War Service/Promotions:   Embarked as Acting Sergeant on 20 December 1915. Attached for duty in Detention Barracks, Cairo, Egypt on 24 January 1916. Joined 54th Battalion at Tel-el-Kabir, Egypt, on 16 February 1916 and reverts to Private. To be Temporary Sergeant from 1 March 1916. Reverts to ranks on transfer to AIF Headquarters on 8 May 1916. Transferred to 14th Training Battalion, 11 May 1916. Transferred from 54th Battalion to Army Postal Corps as Sergeant (date of promotion unknown) on 12 July 1916 to Ad. Headquarters, London, attached for duty with Pay Corps. To be Temporary Staff Sergeant, England on 1 September 1916. Admitted to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, London, England on 27 September 1917. On 20 October 1917 he ceased duty with the Army Pay Corps to return to Australia at own expense for medical reasons.

Fate:   He returned to Australia per SS Corsican, tranship to SS Niagara, on 26 October 1917. He married Ruby Lillian Simpson, 21 July 1923, St James' Church, King Street, Sydney, NSW.
