On page 25 of the Attestation paper he states that his true name in William Alfred Hughes and that he had served as William Alfred Vogt.

Son of Hans Henry Vogt and Elizabeth Vogt nee Anderson of Kyabram, Australia.

Next of kin given as a friend M. Archer  of Stawell Street, Burnley, Victoria.

Commenced return to Australia on 23 June 1919 aboard HT Orita disembarking on 6 August 1919
