Clarence George Dennis



Clarence George Dennis was the son of William Dennis and Mary Ann McPaul. He was born at Wagga Wagga on 4 May 1898.

Clarence George's elder brothers Samuel and James Leslie Dennis both enlisted earlier in the War and were on their return voyage to Australia as he was sailing for England.

Clarence George married Hilda Smith in 1922 at Glebe, NSW. Their daughter Doreen was born in 1925. Clarence died tragically on 18 June 1926 at Petersham, NSW.

Clarence George Dennis

Clarence George was the youngest son of William and Mary Ann Dennis (nee McPaul) of Wagga Wagga, NSW. His father William died of a heart attack when he was 8 years of age.  His youngest sister Ella had died one month earlier.  He had 4 brothers Charles, James, Oswald and Sam and 4 sisters Eliza, Mary (dec), Florence and Ella.

Clarence George enlisted on 19 Arpil 1918. His brother Sam enlisted on 30 November 1915 having joined the Kangaroo March from Wagga Wagga.  James enlisted 26 October 1916.  Both Sam and James returned from overseas on 21 July 1918.  Sam served in Egypt and the Western Front where he had been severely gassed.  Clarence returned to Australia on 19 August 1919.

Clarence George married Hilda Eveline Smith in 1922 at Glebe in Sydney, NSW.  They had one daughter Doreen born in 1925.  Clarence George was working as a plumber when he died at Petersham, Sydney, NSW on 18 June 1926.
