Hugh Webb Faulkner was born 13/6/1900 and joined, direct from school, the RAN as a Midshipman in 1916 and served on HMAS Australia from 1916 till 1918.
He was promoted to Sub Lieutenant in October 1918 and served on HMS "PC71" until the end of 1918.
He transferred to the Royal Navy in 1919. He was appointed Lieut in 1920, Lt. Comm in 1928, Comm in 1934 and Captain in 1940. He had various sea postings and in 1941/1942 he captained the HMS Edinburgh.
He was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1949 and retired for the Navy in 1952.
He was mentioned in despatches 4 times and awarded the DSO in 1943, a CBE in 1945 and a CB in 1951.
He was High Sheriff of Somerset in 1968 and died in the UK on 24/5/1969.
