Son of Harry BECKLEY and Annie Mary BEKCLEY nee ARKILL

Aubrey John Arkill BECKLEY, better known as Jack enlisted in the AIF on the 24/06/1915, age 27 years, with the 28th Battalion 2nd Reinforcement. He attained the rank of Sergeant. On the 3/11/1916, while serving in France, Jack was wounded in action, sustaining a gun shot wound to his right thigh. He was admitted to hospital in England, and on the 4/6/1917 he returned to Australia, and was discharged on the 16/07/1917. Jack re-joined on the 30/07/1917 as a clerk in the Home Service, Staff Office for Recruits.
