Service History

During the war he served for five years in the RAAF, enlisting inAugust 1940, and after initial training at Somers and No 1 WAGS Ballarat, he spent time there as a Wireless Instructor. He was then at Mt Gambier for 13 months, spending three months instructing, eight months on a course and two months as WIT Operator at No 2 AOS Mt Gambier. In March 1943 he went to Darwin with 10 Mobile Fighter Sector, and in December was posted with 12 Signals Unit to Merauke in Dutch New Guinea. He reached the rank of Flying Officer by the time of his discharge in March 1946.
