After the war

After the War, due to the stress he suffered, he was unable to return to his job as a Bank Manager in Melbourne. He moved to Southport in Queensland where he did basic work. He was also in Darwin on his 21st birthday when it was being bombed by the Japanese.

Crash-land Kittyhawk's

HIPGRAVE, Geoffrey Fletcher. My Great Uncle Geoff told me he flew reconnaissance missions from the top end of Australia during WWII. The frightening thing was he had to crash-land his “Kittyhawk” plane many times because they did not have enough fuel in the tanks of the plane to go the whole distance. My Great Uncle Geoff and those who flew with him were certainly made of tough stuff!
