Edgar Elridge served in the Boer War with the 6th WA Mounted Infantry. under service number 390. When his unit was returned to Australia he volunteered to stay on in South Africa and tranferred to the 2nd Imperial Light Horse. He was mentioned in despatches on 22 Dec 1901 for chasing down and capturing 18 Boer following a lengthy chase on horse back.
An experienced horsemen, In WW1 he served with the 7th Field Engineer Company with the horse troop.
Whilst on leave in England in 1917 he met and married his wife Daisy.
He survived the war and returned to Australia.
