Steward Ernest Ronald Crawford (Service No:PM3645) enlisted in the RAN on 26 November 1941 and served on HMAS Cerberus, Lonsdale, Penguin and Blamoral. Steward Crawford was attached to HMAS Kompartoo at Discharge on 27 March 1944.
Ernie was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1923, eldest of three children of Ernest Crawford (b1897 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Margaret May O'Shannessy (b1904 in Melbourne, Victoria). Ernest (a Labourer) and Margaret married in 1921 in Melbourne, where they settled and raised their family and Ernest was a Labourer. Ernest served in the AIF in WWI (Service No:3716).
Ernie worked as a Labourer before enlisting in the RAN and, in 1944 in Melbounre, married Jean Caroline Trevaskis (b1921 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Jean was working as a Factory Hand. Ernie and Jean settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Ernie worked as a Labourer until his death in 1985. Jean (who worked as a Factory Hand) died in 2008.
