Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of John Thomas and Janet Nimo Sharrock, of "Fernleigh", Hamilton, Victoria, Australia.

Mr and Mrs J. G. Sharrock, of Mount Napier, have been notified of the death in action of their son, Lance-Corporal Charles Sharrock. The young man was well and popularly known  throughout this district, and the news of his death was rendered a sadder blow by reason of the fact that a day or two earlier the news of his promotion to Lance Corporal had only just come through.

The sad intelligence was on Tuesday conveyed by the Rev. H. J. Coe to Mr. J. T. Sharrock, of Fernleigh, Mt. Naper, that his son, Lance-Corporal Charles Sharrock had been killed in  action on June 8th. Lance-Corporal Sharrock, who was a very fine example of Australia's finest and bravest, men, sailed from Australia on May 27th, 1916. He left England for  France at the end of November of the same year, and fought in France until a short time before he met his death, when, as far as is known, he went to Belgium. Much sympathy is felt for the sor rowing father, sisters and brothers, who recently suffered the loss of a wife and mother. This promising young soldier was only 22 years and 8 months old.

MR. J.T. SHARROCK and Family desire to convey their sincere thanks to the Shire of Dundas, Macarthur Red Cross, Revs. Butcher and Cocks, and the large circle of friends who  personally and by post and wire expressed their sympathy and regret for their recent bereavement by the death of Lance-Corporal Charles Sharrock, killed in action in Belgium,  8/6/17.
