Arthur Guy Denis Bagot was born in 1896 and educated in the training vessel HMS Worcester 1911-13.
Midshipman RNR August 1913, and appointed to HMS Queen Mary (1st Battle Cruiser Squadron).
Present during Russian visit of July 1914, and the actions of Heligoland 28 August 1914 and Dogger Bank 24 January 1915.
Transferred to RN June 1915, Sub Lieutenant December. To sloop HMS Pentstemon March 1916, and destroyer HMS Tirade August 1917, being present during the sinking of UC 55 in September.
Acting Lieutenant October 1917. Served in other destroyers including HMS Lookout, for remainder of war.
Lieutenant February 1918. Took Naval History course at Cambridge 1919 later joining the minesweeper HMS Princess Margaret for service in the Baltic.
Commanded HM Drifter Victoria II in the Mediterranean 1920, and served on destroyers before leaving the Navy in about 1922-23.
Lieutenant-Commander (retired) 1926. Became a planter in Ceylon during part of the inter war period. Recalled to service May 1939 as Naval Liaison Officer, Anglo-Egyptian Censorship (Suez Canal area) and later as Duty Commander to the Naval Officer in Command at Port Said until December 1942.
To Australia until March 1943 when he joined the Naval Control Service at Colombo, Ceylon. Acting NOIC Addu Atoll (Indian Ocean) and commanding base ship HMS Haitan 1943.
Returned to Ceylon 1944 and later became SNO Palk Strait oil transhipment scheme, [...] 1945, commanding the depot ship HMS Yingchow until January 1946.
Acting Commander RN March 1945. Served as a Naval member of the Allied Mission for the observation of Greek Elections May to September 1946. Left the service as a Commander (retired) October 1946.
Served with the Control Commission Germany as a Kreis Resident Officer 1947-49, and the Civil Defence 1950.
Was employed by the Atlantic Steam Navigation Company Ltd 1951-54 as RASC Fleet Adviser with the LST Control Unit (FARELF) during the Korean War, including command of the troop carrying vessels LST Reginald Kerr and LST Charles MacLeod.
Worked with the Missions to Seaman 1957-70, and died in 1981.
