Reginald Roy Biggs

Reginald Roy Biggs was born at Forest Range on the 28th August 1897. Giving
his age as 18 he enlisted in Adelaide on the 6th August 1915 {service number
3021}. Biggs named his mother, Mrs Julia Jane Biggs as his next of kin.
He served with the 7th Reinforcements / 27th Battalion in France and was
appointed Lance Corporal on the 13th August 1916. After spending three days in
hospital due to sickness, Biggs rejoined his battalion on the 21st November.
On the 26th March 1917, Biggs was wounded in action in France, suffering a
gunshot wound to the left leg, arm and back. He was later evacuated to
Kitchener Military Hospital in England. Biggs’ war wounds were compounded
by contracting Psoriasis, which resulted in his being returned to an Australian
hospital ship and sent home on board the Benalla. He arrived in Australia on the
24th October 1917 and was discharged as medically unfit on the 8th November
1917.
