Sapper James Townley Jackman (Service No:TX9326) enlisted in the AIF with 51 Field Park Coy on 29 November 1944, and served in New Guinea (Rabaul; 12 March 1946 - 29 October 1946). Sapper Jackman was attached to 5 Field Park Coy at Discharge on 11 December 1946.

Jim was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1925, second of six children of Townley (Jacka) James Jackman (b1898 in Wellington, New Zealand) and Amelia (Amy) Lucy Bradley (b1902 at Oyster Bay, Kingbury, Tasmania). Jacka was an Orchardist in Exeter, Tamar when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916 (Private; Service No:1070), and following his Discharge was in Kettering in 1923 when he and Amy married. Jacka and Amy settled in Hobart, where they raised their family - Jacka worked as a Lineman.

Jim was working in Blackman's Bay as a Steel Bender/Engineer's Labourer in 1944 when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, Jim returned to Blackman's Bay, where he worked as a Carpenter and, in the early 1950s married Joan (b1932). Jim and Joan settled in Hobart, where they raised their family and Jim was a Carpenter and TPT Employee. Jim died in 1996 and Jaon in 2014.
