Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
Served in both the South African (Boer) War and WW1; Private S.N. 352, 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, Boer War; and Corporal S.N. 2295, Railway Unit AIF, WW1.
His third given name is variously recorded as Clarke and Clark on different service and nominal roll documents.
When he enlisted in 1901 under Archibald Henry Clarke Davies in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father R. C. Davies, Red Hill, Brisbane. Note, the original Nominal Roll for the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, records him with Clark as his third given name.
In 1917 he again enlisted for WW1 and on his Attestation Form, dated 19 Oct 1917, it is noted that; he was born at Maryborough on 26 Apr 1883; he was married and working as a railway guard; his N.O.K. was his wife Mrs. Maude Mary Davies, Cleveland; and he had previously served in South Africa. While his Attestation Form and other documents on his service record show Clarke as his third given name, the embarkation roll etc record it as Clark.
Archibald Henry Clarke Davies (BDM Qld birth register) was born on 26 Apr 1883 at Maryborough, a son to Richard Clarke Davies and Alice Clara Davies (nee Kent). He married Maude Mary Ogilvie on 10 Oct 1906 at St Andrew's Church, South Brisbane. They resided at Cleveland and had 4 children.
