Corporal Geoffrey Alan Lloyd (Service No:TX3517) initially enlisted in the Militia (Private; Service No:234981) and was attached to 12/50th Battalion when he Discharged on 20 June 1940 to enlist in the AIF the next day. Private Lloyd served in the Northern Territory in 1941 - he was promoted to Corporal on 19 September 1941 - and embarked for Java on 8 December 1941. Corporal Lloyd was reported Missing on 25 April 1942 and confirmed a PoW of the Japanese on 15 June 1942 (PoW Nos: 36795/7198). Recovered from the Japanese on 4 October 1945, Corporal Lloyd embarked from Singapore for Melbourne on 25 October 1945 on board the Moreton Bay. Corporal Lloyd was Discharged on 19 December 1945.

Born in 1914 in Ulverstone Tasmania, Geoff was the youngest of nine chldren of George Frederick Lloyd (b1872 in Campbell town, Tasmania) and Sarah Hannah Heazlewood (b1873 at Port Sorrell, Tasmania). George (a Builder) and Sarah married in 1898 at Ulverstone where they settled and raised their family and George was a Builder and Bricklayer.

Geoff was a Farm Labourer in Ulverstone when he enlisted in 1939, and following his Discharge he returned to Ulverstone where he was a Farmer and a Clerk. Geoff died in 1983.
