Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Henry was the eighth of fourteen children of Trevillian (Walter) Henry Griffin (b1877 in Dunedin, New Zealand) and Ada Frances Towton (b1889 in Perth, WA). Walter had arrived in Victoria in the 1880s with his parents and siblings, and by 1904 was a Horse Trainer in Kalgoorlie, WA. Ada was the daughter of well known WA Horse Trainer, Breeder and Jockey George Towton who had stables at Belmont in Perth, WA. Walter and Ada married in 1906 in Perth WA where they raised their family. Walter died in 1940.

Henry worked as a Furrier in Perth WA and in December 1941 enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:W9070). He Discharged in July 1942 to enlist in the AIF (Private; Service No:WX29921) and served with 16th and 22nd Infantry Battalions and 26 Works Coy in Darwin NT (24 March 1943 - 21 November 1944) and Jacquinot Bay - New Britian Province in New Guinea (21 November 1944 - 29 January 1946). Henry was attached to 16 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in March 1946. Brothers Ronald, Walter, Edwin, Allan and Herbert also served in WWII.

Following his Discharge, Henry moved around the Kimberley in north west WA - working as an Oversser on Warragine Station near Port Hedland and living in Broome and Derby. Henry's second name is spelt as 'Trevalyan' on his Death Certificate and some Electoral Rolls. He died in 1995.
