Sterling Napier FRANKI was born in Balmain, Sydney in 1892

His parents were James Peter FRANKI & his second wife Bessie JOHNSON who married in Victoria in 1882

He enlisted in Sydney on 10th September, 1915 and embarked with the 1st Field Company Engineers, 11th reinforcements on the HMAT Beltana on 9th November, 1915

Sterling died from shell shrapnel wounds at the 44th Casualty Clearing Station in France and is buried in the Puchenvillers British Cemetery

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and a memorial in St Johns Church of England Church in Balmain, Sydney
