Lance Corporal Walter Edward Collins (Service No:V161183) served in the ACMF with 21 Australian Supply Depot Coy (ASDC) AASC from 19 January 1942 to 28 September 1945.

Walter was born in Kiata via Nhill, Victoria in 1907, youngest of five children of Henry Collins (b1868 in Mt Gambier, South Australia) and Elizabeth Dickinson (b1871 at Murphy's Creek, Victoria). Henry was a Storekeeper in Kiata via Nhill in 1895 when he and Elizabeth married in Ballarook. They settled in Kiata where they raised their family and Henry was a Storekeeper. Elizabeth died of Tuberculosis in 1912, and in 1913 Henry remarried to Bertha Louise Devlin (nee Holland; b1878 in Millicent, South Australia). Henry and Bertha had moved to Portland by 1919 and Henry worked there as a Storekeeper. Bertha died in 1937 and Henry remarried in 1938 to Florence Marion Facey (b1890 in Cranbourne, Victoria) - Florence was working as a Nurse at Portland Hospital.

Walter worked as a Storekeeper in Portland where, in 1930 he married Lillian Alice Male (b1909 in Beulah, Victoria). Walter and Lillian lived in Portland where they raised their family and Walter was a Storekeeper until the late 1940s when they moved to Bendigo and Walter was a Poultry Farmer. By the mid 1950s Walter and Lillian had moved to Melbourne where Walter was a Storekeeper. Walter died in 1974 and Lillian in 2009.
