William Thomas was born on 18 July 1918 in Drouin, Victoria, Australia. He was the eldest child of William and Sarah McMillan. He married Mary Julia Veronica Terrisa Brown on 12 July 1941 in Victoria, Australia. They had seven children during their marriage. William joined the Australian Army on 8 Sep 1943 in WWII and obtained the rank of corporal he was discharged on 20 December 1945.
William died on 31 January 1977 in Preston, Victoria, Australia, at the age of 58.
