Son of John Hoyes and Christina Hoyes nee Pickering of Samford Road, Enoggera, QLD. Brother of Arthur Hoyes who returned to Australia on 19 August 1919 having served with the 3rd Divisional Train.
Commenced return to Australia on 19 August 1919 aboard HT Ajana disembarking on 9 October 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.
