Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Peter Thompson served with the 1st Battalion on Gallipoli from 5 August 1915. He transferred to the 53rd Battalion during the reorganisation of the AIF during early 1916. Peter was listed as missing at Fromelles on 19 July 1916. He wasn’t really seen after attacking from his own line. He wasn’t confirmed as ‘killed in action’ until September 1917.

His younger brother, 3957 Pte. William Emanuel Thompson 18th Battalion AIF, was killed in action later in the war, 19 May 1918, aged 22. They were the sons of Peter and Mary Ann Thompson, of North Logan, Cowra, New South Wales.
