One of three brothers who served in WWII, Lance Corporal Gordon Charles Miller (Service Nos:NX25090/N350927) initially served in the AIF as a Gunner attached to 1 Anti Aircraft Regiment (4 June 1940 - 21 May 1941). Lance Corporal Miller then served in the ACMF with 26 Battalion VDC (PTD) from 5 December 1941 to 25 September 1945.
Gordon was born in Manildra, NSW in 1917, third of five children of Claude Giffin Miller (b1887 in Molong, NSW) and Jessie Maud Griffith (b1888 in Molong, NSW). Claude (a Farmer/Grazier) and Jessie married in 1913 in Manildra via Molong, where they settled and raised their family and Claude was a Farmer/Grazier. Claude served in WWI (Private; Service No:54244), and in 1923 was seriously injured in a car accident in Parkes - he was passenger in a car that was hit by a train at a level crossing - his mother and brother Wilfred were killed.
Gordon was a Farmer/Grazier at Manildra prior to enlisting in the Army. In 1945 in Molong, he married Olga Marie Schmidt (b1923 in Melbourne, Victoria). Gordon and Olga settled in the region, where they raised their family and Gordon was a Farmer/Grazier in Bumberry, Borenore, Carbeen and Manildra. Gordon also served as a Trustee of Public Land and on the Council of the Shire of Carbonne. Gordon died in 2007 and Olga in 2011.
