Captain S. McD. Kimpton VX38174 served with the 2/4 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, and was stationed in the Middle East when he wrote to Malvern Council on 10 January 1943:
Dear Sir, I wish to thank you and the citizens of Malvern for your kind Xmas wishes and gift of 6/- canteen orders. They will prove very useful indeed. We are now having a quiet time in Palestine and a fair number are going on leave each week: it is rather a different life to our time in the desert. The war news is now so encouraging that perhaps we can hope that Xmas 1943 will bring us near the end of this dreary war. Thanking you again for your kind thoughts. Yours sincerely, Stephen Kimpton.
