Private Ronald James Chambers (Service No:V220640) enlisted in the ACMF on 10 January 1942 and served with No 1 and No 5 AARD. Private Chambers was in Lae and Buna in 1944 and Discharged (Medical) on 13 September 1944.
The second of three children, Ron was born in Mildura, Victoria in 1904 to Charles Isaac Chambers (b1874 in Mil Lel, South Australia) and Letitia Margaret Stanley (nee Smith; b1871 in Mil Lel, South Australia). Charles (a Labourer) and Letitia married in 1904 in Mildura, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Charles was a Labourer.
Ron worked in Mildura as a Labourer and Truck Driver, and in 1931 married Gladys Elma Watts (b1909 in Dunolly, Victoria). Ron and Gladys settled in Koorlong via Mildura where Ron was working as a Labourer in 1942 when he enlisted in the ACMF. Following his Discharge, the family moved to Melbourne where Ron worked as a Joiner. Ron died in 1982 and Gladys in 1993.
