Son of Abraham Marcus LOEWENTHAL and Carlotta nee COHEN
Louis studied medicine at Sydney University becoming a surgeon at RPAH in 1926 and appointed Superintendent of RNSH in 1931 then went into Private Practice from 1934.
He enlisted in the AAMC as Captain in 1940 and married Joyce Marelina MATHER at Woollahra, NSW. He served in the Middle East, was promoted to Major from 1942 serving in Australia and hospital ships. After six months in 1945 in New Guinea, he was promoted to Lt. Col.
It seems he returned into private practice, associated with RNSH.
Dr. Loewenthal died in Sydney on 28 March 1981 age 78 years and was survived by Joyce and a daughter.
