IN MEMORY OF THE DEARLY LOVED SON OF MR. & MRS. PIPER OF COTTESLOE

Sergeant George William Henry Piper, is the son of George and Emma Piper, Irvine Street, Cottesloe.  Prior to the outbreak of war he was in Fort Forrest, Fremantle, and then he went into Blackboy Camp.  He was promoted to the rank of Corporal and then to the rank of Sergeant, and sailed for Gallipoli, where he was wounded and was sent to hospital at Lemnos Island.  He was in charge of the Stores there, and then left with the 28th Battalion for France, where he was in action until the 21st May, 1916, when he was killed at Armentieres.  He was buried in the Amentieres Churchyard.
