Private William Frederick McIntosh (Service No:WX23076) enlisted in the AIF on 19 December 1944, and was attached to the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces Japan (BCOF) when he embarked with his Unit on 16 April 1946 from Fremantle for Kure, Japan on board the Paobana Victory. Private McIntosh embarked from Kure for Sydney on 25 September 1947, and was attached to 67 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 9 October 1947.

William was born in North Fremantle, Western Australia in 1926, eldest child of William Francis McIntosh Snr (b1904 in Fremantle, Western Australia) and Lena Isabelle Stewart Fraser (b1906 in Perthshire, Sctoland). Lena was a Dyer's Preparer when she immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1922, arriving in Fremantle on board the Moreton Bay. William Snr (a Laundry Engineer) and Lena married in 1926 in Fremantle, where they settled and raised their family and William Snr worked as a Laundry Engineer and Laundry Proprietor.

William was a Packer in Fremantle when he enlisted in the Army in 1944, and following his Discharge returned to Fremantle where he worked as a Laundry Hand. In 1949 in Fremantle he married Madge Marie Newman (b1927 in Perth, Western Australia) - Madge was working in Fremantle as a Typist. William and Madge settled in Fremantle (Palmrya, Bicton, Attadale, Applecross), where William worked as a Laundry Hand and Clerk. Madge died in 2008 and William in 2010.
